Announcing Our 111th Season

For 111 seasons, Vagabond Players has been at the heart of Baltimore’s vibrant theatre community, creating unforgettable live experiences. As one of the oldest continually operating community theatres in the country, Vagabond Players has built our legacy on bold storytelling, extraordinary local talent, and the magic that only live performance can create.

Our 111th Season honors that tradition with a lineup that is daring, entertaining, thought-provoking, hilarious, and unapologetically theatrical. From soaring music and gothic thrills to the outrageous comedy and mystery, this season showcases the full range of what makes theatre unforgettable. Audiences will journey from fantasy worlds filled with monsters and heroes, to Pulitzer Prize-winning contemporary drama, to classic Neil Simon comedy — all brought to life by some of Baltimore’s most exciting directors, performers, and creative teams.

Whether you are a lifelong subscriber or discovering us for the first time, this is a season designed to surprise, delight, challenge, and entertain. This season celebrates what has kept audiences returning to Vagabond Players for more than a century: thrilling stories told live, right in the heart of historic Fells Point.

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd — the demon barber of Fleet Street. Stephen Sondheim’s legendary musical thriller opens our season in grand fashion with soaring music, dark humor, shocking twists, and unforgettable theatrical spectacle.

Returning to Vagabonds after last season’s smash-hit production of HAIR, director TJ Lukacsina teams up with acclaimed musical theatre director Stephen Foreman, who joins Vagabond Players for the first time. Together, they bring fresh vision and dynamic energy to one of the greatest musicals ever written. This is going to be a bloody good time!

The production is directed by one of Baltimore theatre’s most popular and experienced directors, Steve Goldklang, whose long history with Vagabond Players includes last season’s smash comedy hit Room Service.

CLUE

Murder, mystery, and mayhem close out the season in this hilarious stage adaptation of the beloved cult film and iconic board game. CLUE is a fast-paced comedy packed with outrageous characters, nonstop surprises, and twists around every corner. Was it Miss Scarlet in the library with the candlestick? You’ll have to see for yourself.

Director Audra Mullen returns to Vagabond Players after standout productions of Into the Woods and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, bringing her signature energy and theatrical flair to this wildly entertaining comedy mystery.

Do you want to learn more about moving into the director seat or what it takes to bring a production to life?
Join Steve Goldklang, who has been directing for Vagabond Players and in other community theatre settings for over thirty-five years, for a 3-hour workshop designed for new directors that will cover the following key topic areas:

  • What does a director do?
  • Selecting and pitching your play to a theatre
  • Creating a vision for your production
  • Assembling a production team
  • Auditions and casting your production
  • Creating a rehearsal schedule
  • The rehearsal process

Attendance is free and open to anyone with some theater background (actors, stage managers, designers) who is interested in moving into a directing position at a community theatre. Attendees are encouraged to be prepared to present their vision/thoughts for a particular production that they would wish to direct.

FACILITATOR: Steve Goldklang has been directing in the Baltimore theater community for over 35 years; many of his productions have been at Vagabond Players and Fells Point Corner Theatre and include our upcoming production of The Divine Sister, Room Service, Doubt, Broadway Bound, A Doll’s House Part 2, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Blithe Spirit, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, The Odd Couple, The Lion in Winter, Born Yesterday, Frost/Nixon, Cock, A Delicate Balance, Art, and Six Degrees of Separation. Steve has a Master’s degree in Dramatic Literature from Queens College.
